Winterization is quite often required for industrial cooling equipment, components and instruments to prevent the damaging effects of high wind, low ambient temperatures, and icing conditions. Failure to protect against low ambient temperatures can cause both operational and production problems. Extreme conditions can result in structural damage to the equipment. A very common problem in both Petro-Chem and Power Generating Plants is the re-entrainment of existing saturated air into the same or nearby cooling tower. Towers are often placed in close proximity because of lack of real estate and the result, due to the prevailing winds is recirculation, and/or interference. Galebreaker can offer a CFD modelling service of your existing cooling tower system and the surrounding area, and recommend wind screen solutions to prevent or significantly reduce recirculation, thus resulting in an increase in overall plant performance. The result is often none or very little de-rate of the process units.
PLUME ABATEMENT SCREENS
By combining industrial, rolling, engineered fabric screens with the PlumeLogic™ Plume Abatement Control System, Galebreaker can help you maintain the coldest possible water from your plume abated tower all year round, whilst still maintaining plume abatement.
The system works by optimising the flow of air through the wet and dry sections of the cooling tower. This means that in any given ambient condition the maximum airflow possible is diverted through the wet, more efficient section of the tower. Conversely the system also ensures that plume abatement is maintained, but with the smallest airflow possible.
